How to improve AI citation readiness (4 steps)

Right after the h1, state the conclusion to the expected search intent in 1-2 sentences (around 40-120 chars). AI search tends to extract a concise conclusion from the top of the page when citing a source.

Use numbered lists for steps, bullets for key points, and tables for comparing plans, tools, or methods. AI extracts key points more accurately from structured elements than from prose.

Phrase headings as questions
Phrase h2/h3 as questions that match expected queries — "What is …", "How to …", "Why …". AI is more likely to cite text under headings that directly answer a question.

Add trust signals and structured data
Show author info, published/modified dates, and source links, and implement Article/FAQPage/HowTo JSON-LD. E-E-A-T and machine-readability are the foundation AI uses to judge whether a source is safe to cite.
